Partitions of Hereditary Variance for Various Genetic Models.

چکیده

0 UR present knowledge of gene action for qualitative characters indicates these actions may be almost as varied as the number of genes, and there is no reason for believing this not to be true for quantitative characters. While transformations would be useful for particular types of gene action (MATHER 1949), they are of doubtful value in realistic situations where many types are probably involved. For this reason, it is helpful to maintain the linear descriptive model, which was proposed earlier (COCKERHAM 1954) and for which the partitions of variance were derived. Then by considering various genetic models, one can see how the hereditary variation is distributed among the various partitions. In this respect the partitioning method serves as a yardstick for comparing genetic models. More important, however, an opinion can be obtained on the power of the yardstick to discriminate among genetic models from experimental data. More general forms of the models considered by HORNER et al. (1955) will be considered here. The partitions of variance will be given, and the models will be examined in terms of the partitions in a very general way.

Estimation of Variance Components for Body Weight of Moghani Sheep Using B-Spline Random Regression Models

The aim of the present study was the estimation of (co) variance components and genetic parameters for body weight of Moghani sheep, using random regression models based on B-Splines functions. The data set included 9165 body weight records from 60 to 360 days of age from 2811 Moghani sheep, collected between 1994 to 2013 from Jafar-Abad Animal Research and Breeding Institute, Ardabil province,...

Deriving components of genetic variance for multilocus models.

Several authors have considered two-locus models as a basis for the inheritance of complex diseases. The purpose of this paper is to give a simple general formulation to derive the additive, dominant, and epistatic effects, and hence the corresponding variance components, for any multilocus model. These variance components should be useful for investigating the power of model-free linkage analy...

Genetic analysis of ewe body weight in Lori-Bakhtiari sheep using random regression models

(Co)variance components and genetic parameters for test day ewe body weight of Lori-Bakhtiari sheep were estimated using a random regression model (RRM). The data consisted of 22153 individual body weight records, obtained from 1994 ewes (progeny of 205 sires and 1010 dams) between 371 and 3416 days of age, collected from the flock stud of Lori-Bakhtiari Sheep Breeding Station in Shahrekord, Ir...

Partitioning variation in multilevel models

In multilevel modelling, the residual variation in a response variable is split into component parts that are attributed to various levels. In applied work, much use is made of the percentage of variation that is attributable to the higher-level sources of variation. Such a measure however only makes sense in simple variance components Normal response models where it is often referred to as the...

مقایسه مدلهای مختلف حیوانی در تخمین اجزای واریانس و فراسنجههای ژنتیکی وزن بدن گوسفند مهربان

Variance components and genetic parameters of body weight of Mehraban sheep were estimated by univariate and random regression models. This was done by using body weight records of 2746 Mehraban lambs related to flocks under supervision of the Agriculture Organization of the Hamadan province, collected between 1990 and 2005. In both methods, variance components estimates were obtained by restri...
